Silver Sliver of Moon

I was sitting in the hot tub talking with my girlfriend when the moon stopped me mid-sentence. She was just a waxing crescent peeking out below the clouds. She was dark the day before and now this glittering slice of silver in the fading light felt like an especially magical gift. I thanked the clouds for making space for her to shine - even just for that moment.
This friend and I are part of a circle of women who have been gathering on full moon nights and dreaming a moon temple into being. The temple will be a place for the women in our community to go when they are on their moon time. A place to dream, to rest, to craft or read, to follow our inner wisdom about what we need in order to nourish and restore ourselves so we can continue to serve our community. The temple will be a place to honor our femininity and the moon who cycles just as we do, waxing and waning each month. The temple will be a place to come together in ceremony to honor our life transitions, to hold each other through our grief, and to celebrate our successes. The core values we identified that the temple will hold are Nurturing Love, Authenticity, Magic and Mystery, Wild Earth Femininity, Connection, Spirituality, and Sisterhood.
So you see, it was a special gift that the clouds parted to give us a glimpse of sparkling moon magic. We gave a moment, a sacred pause, to bask in her beauty until the clouds swallowed her once more. That is the moment I remember most vividly about our time sitting together, the moment we shared with the moon.
